As we all bundle up in extra layers, scarves and gloves to combat the cold, have you ever wondered how our plants, trees, and grass combat weather like this?
Thankfully plants, trees, and grass are prepared for the winter months but might still show signs of stress after a winter like this. In December, plants store up nutrients and focus on a type of hibernation or dormancy to get through the cold months. They have stored up as much “food” as possible in their root systems to feed themselves slowly until spring comes.
When the weather is colder than normal the plants use up more of their food to ensure they stay happy, but then emerge hungry in the spring, wanting a nutrient rich organic application to replenish their resources. Going without this proper meal can cause sickness and even lawn decline. Although other companies might not think about how the winter actually affected their lawns, we are calculating and choosing the right blend of products for our first round! These organic soil amendments and fertilizer sources will ensure that your plants get exactly what they need and are looking their best this spring.
