With a high of 38 degrees and 20 mph winds we hope that everyone is staying warm today! While Alex was doing some property inspections a homeowner asked him the following question:
The grass along my driveway and out by the road are much greener than the rest of the lawn, why is this?
That is a great question! The reason that you are seeing this is due to the warmer soil temperatures around your paved areas. During the warm, sunny days we have had the concrete, aggregate and asphalt have absorbed the warmth which has then heated the soil up. As the soil warms up it tells the lawn that it is time to come out of dormancy and start growing! This gives the grass excess nutrients they stored this winter in these areas and causes them to green up. Don’t worry though, once spring is actually here the rest of the lawn will bounce right back and green up nicely!
